Luca's First Swimming Lesson

Luca's first lesson... let's just say our expectations far exceeded the actual event! Luca was very excited right from the beginning and was eager to get into the pool. Once in, however, I think he decided maybe it wasn't such a good idea. There were 2 other kids in the class, both babies, and both seemed pretty comfortable in the water. The smallest one was going under the water and being tossed into the air every other minute. (show off) ;)

Luca did okay in the beginning, but preferred to cling to daddy instead of participate in the games. Once the back floating started, you really saw him get nervous and I heard more than a few "all dones". The final straw was "Humpty Dumpty" where he was supposed to sit on the edge of the pool and then Anthony would help him "fall" in. The instructor said the goal was to get him to go under, or at least get his face wet, but that wasn't going to happen. The tears started and the rest of the lesson was shot.

We're hoping next week is a little easier... It was quite sad to watch him so scared, especially since we rarely see that side of him.
